SC Codeworks recently had the pleasure of attending the 80th Annual SWA Convention, hosted this year at the historic and iconic Greenbrier resort in White Sulphur Springs, West Virginia. Known for its Southern charm and rich history, the Greenbrier provided the perfect backdrop for what has become one of our favorite industry events.

This convention is unlike any other. It is a down-to-earth, energizing gathering of warehouse and 3PL professionals, service providers, and innovators. It’s an event that seamlessly blends professional development with relationship building in a truly relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.

This year, SC Codeworks was represented by Tony Baldwin, Director of Presales and Implementation, and Amy Dean, VP of Operations. From the educational sessions to the unforgettable Oddball Olympics (a clear favorite!), the convention offered a dynamic mix of networking and fun that we’re still talking about.

What Makes the SWA Convention Stand Out

1.Networking and Relationship Building

One of the most powerful takeaways from this event is always the people. The SWA community is a tight-knit group of professionals who return year after year, creating a space that is both inclusive and collaborative. These aren’t just passing introductions; they’re the foundation of long-term partnerships and lasting friendships. The conversations are real, insightful, and supportive, which is rare and refreshing in today’s fast-paced business world.

2. Engaging Industry Speakers

SWA consistently curates a strong lineup of industry speakers who cover a wide range of relevant topics. But what really sets these sessions apart is the format; they’re less about one-way communication and more about sparking real dialogue. Roundtable-style discussions invited attendees, vendors, and speakers alike to share perspectives, challenge assumptions, and explore new ideas together.

3. Timely Discussions on Emerging Technologies

Unsurprisingly, AI was a major theme throughout the event. With so much buzz around AI and robotics, it was refreshing to hear grounded, practical discussions on how 3PLs can adopt these technologies to stay competitive. These aren’t just abstract ideas; they’re actionable strategies designed to set businesses apart in an increasingly crowded and cost-sensitive market.

4. Inter-Organization Collaboration

Perhaps one of the most unique aspects of the SWA Convention is how it fosters collaboration across different organizations. Vendors, logistics companies, and industry associations come together not just to network, but to share insights and support each other through challenges. Whether it’s navigating regulatory changes, understanding tariffs, or discussing best practices, the openness and transparency at this event are truly special.

Conclusion

The 80th Annual SWA Convention wasn’t just another industry event, it was a reminder of the power of community, collaboration, and staying curious in a constantly evolving field. SC Codeworks is proud to be part of such a forward-thinking and connected group of professionals. We left the Greenbrier inspired, informed, and ready to continue pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in warehouse and 3PL technology.

We’re already looking forward to next year.
