President's Note

Hi there,

May was another strong month at SC Codeworks, marked by customer success stories, practical insights, and valuable conversations about improving warehouse operations. As supply chains continue to face pressure to do more with less, we remain focused on helping organizations uncover efficiencies and build a foundation for long-term growth.

This month, we featured three articles highlighting common challenges, and opportunities, across the warehousing and logistics industry. One case study examined how a 3PL provider integrated SAP with our warehouse management system, eliminating manual processes and saving approximately 980 labor hours annually. We also explored how directed putaway strategies can improve productivity by optimizing inventory placement and reducing unnecessary travel throughout the warehouse.

In addition, we shared insights on why many warehouse automation projects fail before implementation even begins. The article emphasizes an important reality: automation delivers the greatest value when supported by standardized processes, accurate data, and operational discipline. Technology is a powerful tool, but success starts with a solid foundation.

We also hosted a Code Chat webinar, The Silent Bottleneck: 3 Signs Your WMS May Be Slowing You Down. During the session, we discussed the subtle inefficiencies that often become accepted as part of daily operations; from relying on spreadsheets and workarounds to repeatedly verifying inventory information that should already be trusted.

A common theme connected all of this month's content: visibility drives performance. Whether improving inventory accuracy, optimizing warehouse workflows, preparing for automation, or evaluating the health of your WMS, the most successful organizations are continuously identifying and removing friction from their operations.

As we move into the summer months, I want to thank our customers, partners, and team members for their continued trust and support. We look forward to helping more organizations improve efficiency, increase visibility, and unlock the full potential of their warehouse operations.

Let's make it a great month,

Suresh Chappidi
CEO, SC Codeworks

WMS Realities: Most Warehouse Automation Projects Fail Before the Software Is Installed

Many warehouse automation projects fail before implementation because companies attempt to automate inefficient or poorly defined processes rather than establishing operational discipline first. This article explains that successful automation depends on standardized workflows, accurate data, and measurable processes; not just the technology itself.

When Will We Start Seeing Fully Autonomous Supply Chains?

Should we? The importance of people in supply chains makes me wonder if we will ever see them fully autonomous, or if we should. The next 3-5 years will be critical to see how the future is shaping up. The use cases are growing and the potential is strong, but security and regulations must keep up. –Amy Dean, VP of Operations

The Silent Bottleneck: 3 Signs Your WMS May be Slowing You Down

From “trusting your inventory… but double-checking anyway” to relying on spreadsheets and workarounds, many warehouse teams adapt to system limitations without realizing the long-term impact.

Case Study: 980+ Hours Saved Through Automation

Teams relied heavily on manual communication, spreadsheet tracking, and duplicate data entry to keep SAP and warehouse operations aligned. As transaction volume increased, these inefficiencies became more costly and time-consuming.

WMS Realities: Most Warehouse Automation Projects Fail Before the Software Is Installed

WMS Realities: Most Warehouse Automation Projects Fail Before the Software Is Installed

Automation is not a substitute for operational maturity. In warehouse operations, automation only works when processes are standardized, measurable, repeatable, and most importantly supported by the people executing them every day.
